Gagan Foods was established in Year 1991 by Mr. Paul Arora and Mrs. Ruby Arora with name Weavers Canada and was renamed as Gagan Foods International Ltd in Year 2003. Initially company the company was dealing in importing carpets and weaved rugs from India and was distributing into Western Canada Market. Gradually looking at market needs, Aroras diversified the business and moved into foods distribution business and finally established core strength in this line of business and captured 60% of the entire market by the end of Year 2010.
Gagan Foods is the largest distributors of grocery products in Western Canada. We are the sole importers major Indian and Pakistani and South East Asian Food Brands like MDH, Maggi, Dabur, Suree, Ashoka, Pachranga Pickles, 817 Rice, Lal Quilla Rice, Parle, Rubicon, Rasm, Surati, Hawkins, Maharani, etc. The company itself owns its registered brand of “GAGAN” and distributes its spices, lentils, rice, flour, sweets and assorted products in retail packs in “GAGAN” Brand. In fact Gagan Foods is registered unit with National Herbal Products Directorate (NHPD) of Canada and carries license to distribute such Dabur products. We cater to more than 300 grocery retailers across Canada, and all major restaurants, banquet-halls and caterers in lower mainland of British Columbia. We supply to main stream chain stores including Loblaws, Walmart as well.
Achievements & Contribution
Company holds 60% of whole market of ethnic food items and other grocery products.Company was nominated and awarded BC Ethno Award in Year 2006 by Ethno Business Council of British Columbia.Company is major contributor to BC Children Hospital.Company also participates in main cultural and festive events of the community. Company is the licensee by NHPD of Canada to carry-on distribution of herbal products and is sole distributor in Western Canada of Indian herbal products giant “Dabur India”.
Vision
Gagan Foods intends to increase its market share of business from 60% of the whole market to 75% by the end of Year 2012. It has also devised its systems into customer oriented lines like Retail Market Line, Food Service Market Line, Main-Stream Market in order to cater its customers in more efficient manner. One of GAGAN FOODS goals is to get as many people as possible to get a taste of ethnic exciting food. That is why the company has concentrated on two areas of wholesale business: Retail and Food Service. The retail field is the dominant business area and all of the company’s product concepts are found here. With regard to the other business area, Food Service, GAGAN FOODS is turning to restaurants and catering kitchens specially adapted for spice-blending and the concept in order to meet their requirements. In this regard, GAGAN is the leading brand in the spice market. Today, GAGAN FOODS is one of the Canada’s leading groups within wholesale grocery distributors with more than 3000 different food and kitchenware products across Canada.
